Dams

The ultimate strength of any stud rests with its female breeders. We established our female herd in the mid 1980’s with bloodlines that were basically French, spreading the genetics later to embrace the best purebred sires available from Australia, Canada and the US. Our aim is to maintain the characteristic muscle of the breed whilst introducing some polled genes, keeping the focus however on body depth, milking ability, strong conformation, fertility and importantly, docility.

Bi-annually we select at least 40 excellent females from our breeding herd for our on-property sale. Genetics from some of our most distinguished cow families have been successfully sold on. Below are some outstanding dams in our current flush programmes

Donna Valley P. Maxine-Fleur Purchased as a calf for $20,000,00, Maxine has gone on to become Junior Champion Female Canberra Royal 2011 and Reserve Senior Champion Female Sydney Royal 2013. DVK Krystal Star S16
KRYSTAL has given us 27 notable offspring including some superb daughters. Retained among them are Longreach Zea and Longreach Abstract Art, both Royal ribbon winners. Krystal is daughter of Ramornie Spry Krystal L21, one of the most influential females in the breed.

Longreach Sincerely Yours
One of our most loved dams, Sincerely Yours, a Wulfs Choice female with abundant milk, was never shown but produced some great offspring, star among them our Interbreed Champion sire Longreach Contestabull, son of her joining to Junior. In her long life she only produced four females, two of whom are retained and breeding on, Longreach Courtesan and Longreach Dimples. We look forward to the birth of her three only remaining embryos in October 2013.

Donna Valley Young Lady

Royal Ribbon winner and purchased in 2009 for $15,000. Young Lady was full French blood, daughter of renowned imported sire; Dauphin, out of Donna Valley Pretty Lady, a much celebrated donor cow within the breed. Extremely elegant, with beautiful balance, milk & growth figures, Young Lady produced excellent ET sons & daughters for our special sales and breeding within our herd.

Longreach Cinnamon

Longreach Cinnamon produced some exceptional females and her eyecatching heifers by Longreach Constestabull prompted a flush to this Interbreed Champion.

Premier Exotic U75

Royal and National ribbon winner, Exotic was purchased in 2004 for $12,000.She is out of the esteemed cow, Whitelakes Exotic. Her two female ET progeny by Ionesco are stunning, exceptionally deep and long and have been retained. Exotic herself died of an injury and the last Ionesco embryo calf of hers is due to arrive this October.

Donna Valley Poll Rachel
A majestic female, whose offspring by the deceased Canadian Bull 'Lucky Me' L7 created a buying frenzy at the Donna Valley Dispersal in 2010. Purchased for $20,000, she has gone on to produce more outstanding "Lucky Me" calves for us, the first of the bulls selling for $12,000 as a yearling in 2013. Her natural son by Froghollow X-man, Longreach Grandiose, was Champion of Champions at the 2013 Canberra Royal Show and is now a prized Herd Sire.
